GUESS what…it’s almost HALLOWEEN….

So exciting, I love Halloween. We also love making all food Halloween-ish, like these cute little Halloween Donuts. They are super easy and are baked rather than fried in oil. Everyone loves them, see for yourself.

Makes 6 Donuts

Needed: Donut Pan

Ingredients;

  • 1 C. All Purpose Flour
  • Remove one tablespoon and replace it with Corn Starch
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp. Baking Soda
  • pinch of Pink Himalayan Salt
  • 1 large egg at room temperature
  • 1/3 C. fine Caster Sugar
  • 6 tbsp. Buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp. melted Butter
  • 1 tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract

Method;

Pre heat oven to 350 F

Sieve the first four ingredients very well together.

In an other bowl, combine the remaining ingredients.

Stir in to the flour mixture. DO NOT OVER MIX.

Grease your doughnut pan or oil spray. Divide the batter between the holes.

Bake for 8 – 10 minutes. Insert a tooth pick to test if they are done. If it comes out dry they are ready. Remove them from the oven. Let cool completely before icing.

For the icing I have used confectioners sugar with natural food colours

and a Halloween Sprinkle Mix.

The icing has to be quite thick or it will absorb into the doughnuts.

    Oh wow these look great! When I first moved to Germany 10 years ago, Halloween wasn’t as popular like it is today. I’m glad that my kids can experience it the way I did when I was growing up in Canada. They are still at an age where they still go trick or treating, but your idea of hosting a Halloween party for your daughter and her friends is just brilliant! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

    These look great! Loving the red one with eyes the most.
    This post would make a great addition to Our Growing Edge, a monthly blog link up just for new food adventures. It’s a fun way to share your new food experiences with other foodies. This month’s theme is HALLOWEEN which includes sweet and spooky food, pumpkins or black and orange dishes.

    I have everything but the Himalayan salt and buttermilk- so this looks pretty darn easy!!! DJ and I are such donut junkies, so after I take my nursing boards I will have to treat us by making these cute little guys. How in the world does every thing you make look so darn perfect? Thanks for the wonderful idea, Myra!! Happy (almost) Halloween!! Love this time of year!!!

        Yessss! But yet you wouldn’t think so based on how stinking cute they are. I even have the same exact pan you use, so I am seriously rewarding myself with these after boards. Stay tuned 🙂
